Gail Bowen’s best-known mystery series features Joanne Kilbourn, a university professor, sometime political columnist, and a wife, mother and grandmother. The first six books in the Kilbourn series have appeared as made-for-television movies with world-wide distribution and the others have met with critical and commercial success. Bowen was Writer in Residence for the Toronto Reference Library in May and June of 2009 and Writer in Residence at the Memorial Park Public Library in Calgary during September, October and November in 2010. She was the Regina Public Library’s Writer in Residence for 2013-2014. In addition to teaching three sessions of Banff’s Writing with Style, Bowen was a mentor at the SFU Mystery Writers Retreat on Saltspring Island in June 2010. She conducted a master class on Writing the Novel at WritersFest, Kingston 2016.

Anne McDonald’s latest book, Miss Confederation: The Diary of Mercy Anne Coles, is the chronicle of a young unmarried woman’s experiences in the social whirlwind of Confederation (June 2017, Dundurn Press). Miss Confederation is a rare opportunity to look back through a woman’s eyes at the men and events at the centre of this pivotal time in Canada’s history. McDonald is an award winning author whose novel To the Edge of the Sea won the Saskatchewan First Book Award. Her work has appeared in literary journals, including Canada’s History; at the 2016 Spring Festival of New Plays; and on CBC Radio. Anne teaches improvisation, and creative writing. She lives in Regina.
